Mafia Old Country for PlayStation 5

After a prolonged jaunt around the 1960s, 2K's Mafia franchise takes us even further back, landing us in an even more old school organised crime yarn set in 1900s Sicily. Mafia: The Old Country is a really focused, story-oriented action adventure game that strips the series formula back to its core. You play as Enzo, a young man who grew up doing forced labour but now has a chance to escape that life and become a man of honour in the Torrisi crime family. But such a life is hard, brutal, and laden with sacrifice. Swapping out grimy alleyways for the golden Sicilian countryside was a big move for developer Hangar13, but boy was it worth it. You can, in theory, skip a lot of the journeying in The Old Country, but you won't want to. This is a world rich in lush period detail, with stunning views around every corner. This is a world to wallow in. Movement is done on foot, by horse or in extremely vintage automobiles, while combat is the business of stiletto blades and lupara sawed-off shotguns. While turn-of-the-century Sicily is out there for you to explore, it's unburdened with the sidequesting and busywork of previous Mafia games. This is a tight package of thrilling story and breakneck action, delivered in a stunning world you'll want to wallow in.
